We are thrilled that in October 2017 we have received a prestigious Artsmark Gold Award for the second time. Artsmark is Arts Council England’s award for schools that champion the arts and strive for excellence.
It celebrates schools that embrace art, dance, drama, music and cultural learning across the curriculum, bringing them to life for children and young people.
In order to become an Artsmark school, we have had to develop our arts and culture provision to achieve a broad and balanced curriculum. This was achieved by creating an overall plan that was committed to and delivered across the whole school. The assessment panel state: “Malvern Way is a shining example of how to provide an arts rich education for children.”
Through Artsmark, we continue to incorporate the arts and culture into every pupil’s life, learning, knowledge and understanding, helping them to build skills, resilience, confidence and character.
We are always keen to continue to develop our links with external providers in the arts, such as artists, craft makers, sculptors, musicians, singers and those who work in a job linked with the arts. If you think that you have a skill or experience that we would enjoy hearing about then please get in touch.
We also have an Arts Council who meet with Mrs Butcher to help with planning and decision making regarding the arts around school. These children were chosen by their teachers to represent their class. During meetings we discuss items such as the focus picture for arts week, the theme of our first ever photography competition and how we can celebrate art around our school.
