Nursery Latest News-Autumn 1- Week 3

This week, it has been lovely to see the Nursery children growing in confidence and independence.

It has been especially lovely to see new friendships developing. The children are getting to know the names of their peers and the adults in Nursery. They have enjoyed playing together, sharing resources and taking turns. They are also using more language in their play and talking with both peers and adults.

The children are settling into our routines really well and developing greater independence. They are learning to recognise the name of their minibeast group, complete their self-registration and manage their own belongings. They have also been introduced to our Flexi Fingers routine, where they work within their group to complete a range of fun fine-motor activities which help to strengthen the muscles in their fingers and hands. We have been practising the “magic trick” for putting on coats, fastening buttons and zips, and using a knife and fork at lunchtime.

In Literacy, the children enjoyed listening to The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. We talked about the importance of having a go, not giving up and showing resilience when learning something new. Each child then created their own unique dot, which is now proudly displayed as part of our school artwork in the Glass Corridor.

Outdoors, the sand area has been particularly popular. The children explored pouring sand between different containers and used mathematical language such as full, empty, more and less during their play.

We are very proud of how well everyone is settling into Nursery and of the friendships, communication skills and independence that are continuing to develop.
