Nursery Latest News – Autumn Week 5

This week we have been looking at The Gingerbread Man. We started by reading the story and joining in with the repeated refrain “run run as fast as you can, you can’t catch me I’m the gingerbread man!” In our explore learning we extended our learning through different activities such as ordering the gingerbread man from the shortest to the tallest, drawing who is in our homes, using the small world characters to retell the story and using chalk to draw a map of the story.

On Tuesday we had a special visitor, Rev Robert from St Oswald’s church, talk to us about Advent and the build up to Christmas. On Wednesday we had another special visitor, Mrs Adams, to come and talk to us about having a new baby. We learnt how to care for a new baby and learnt a song about how to change a nappy.

In Maths we have been continuing to looking at height using new vocabulary, and looking for objects in our environment that are tall and short. In our phonics we have been continuing to look at rhymes and have been finding our own words to use as rhyming words.

At the end of the week we started to prepare for Christmas. We started to decorate our classroom and began our class advent calendar.
