This week we have been learning about two celebrations, Shrove Tuesday and Chinese New Year. At the start of the week, we looked at Pancake Day and understood that it is a time that Christians celebrate getting ready for Easter. We then discussed what toppings that we like on our pancakes and made a class bar chart to represent our favourite toppings.
Towards the end of the week, we learnt about Chinese New Year. We listened to the story of The Great Race, and recognised the different animals who appeared in the race. We then put the animals in order and learnt that this is the order of the Chinese New Year. We learnt about different ways that Chinese New Year is celebrated, including spring cleaning their houses and then decorating their houses.
