This week we introduced our new topic Come Outside and started by going on spring walk around the school environment. We started our walk in our nursery garden, walking through the woodland and then to the chickens. We saw many different signs of spring on our way around including flowers, leaves on the trees, and sun shine.
In our class group time we looked at the story of Jasper’s Beanstalk and then created a story map to help us retell the story of what Jasper does on each day to plant his bean. In explore learning time we have been painting Jasper, cutting out leaves for our beanstalks and drawing what we think could have been at the top of Jasper’s beanstalk.
In maths we have been looking at sequencing everyday events such as getting ready for school. We also looked at sequencing the nursery rhyme Incy Wincy Spider and the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar. In phonics we have looked at the phoneme ‘s’ and sorted different objects into a group that began with ‘s’ and didn’t begin with ‘s’.
