This week we have been looking at our focus text The Tiny Seed. On Monday we read the story and found out the journey the seed has been on throughout the different seasons. On Tuesday we recalled where the seed had been in each season, remembering key points of the story. On Wednesday we celebrated National Numeracy Day by looking at different coins and looked at sorting them into groups. In our role play we introduced big coins to have a closer look.
In maths we have been talking about and exploring 3D shapes, noticing how a 3D shape can be made up of different 2D shapes. We have been looking around our Nursery to see what 2D and 3D shapes we can find, and introducing language such as sides, edges, faces and corners. In PE we went out on the field for the first time to practise our sports day races. We practised our throwing and aiming skills, balancing skills and running skills. In phonics we continued to learn new rhymes for the sounds ‘i’ and ‘n’, and sorted different objects to their initial sound.
After caring for our beans for the last few weeks, we finished our class bean diary’s and they have now all gone home to hopefully grow into beanstalks. Our caterpillars have gone into their cocoon and hopefully they will emerge as butterflies soon.
