Nursery Latest News Summer 2 – Week 1

We started our week sharing our sparkling moments with our friends, learning about different types of technology such as remotes, batteries and wires, tablets, computers, and even a sewing machine. Our focus this week was Superworm and we used the small world tray to help us retell the story.

In PE we went out on the field for the first time to practise our sports day races. We practised our throwing and aiming skills, balancing skills and running skills. In maths we reminded ourselves about all the different patterns we could see around us and had a go at making and correcting a simple pattern ourselves. In phonics we have continued to work on our blending and segmenting skills using the sounds ‘s’, ‘a’, ‘t’, ‘p’, ‘i’ and ‘n’.

Outside in the creative area we have been learning an ancient Japanese art called Hapa Zome. We learnt that Hapa zome is the magical art of textile or paper printing with plants and flowers and even had a go ourselves. As we hammered the fabric, we watched the dye of the flowers and leaves imprint colour onto the fabric.
