Growing Minds
Growing Minds focuses on the development and nurturing of children’s intellectual, emotional, and social growth. It emphasises our belief that every child is on a journey of learning and discovery, and that their minds are continuously developing as they explore, question, and engage with the world around them.
Growing Minds can be understood and applied in the following ways:

- Developing Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills: Children are encouraged to think critically, make connections, and approach problems with a creative mindset and can do attitude.
Supporting Emotional and Social Growth: Children learn how to understand their feelings, express themselves, cooperate with others, and navigate social situations. This aspect of growth is key to their overall development and helps them build positive relationships. - Promoting Continuous Learning: Learning is a lifelong process. Our curriculum is designed and delivered with the belief that learning is not limited to formal lessons but happens all the time and everywhere through experiences, interactions, and exploration.
Everyone Matters
Everyone Matters emphasises the importance of treating each member of our community with respect, fairness and tolerance, regardless of their background, abilities, or differences. It fosters an environment where every child feels valued, supported, and included.
This value can be expressed in several ways:
- Inclusivity: Everyone, regardless of their race, gender, abilities, or socio-economic status, should feel welcome and part of the school community. This can include making accommodations for children with additional needs, celebrating diversity, and ensuring no child feels excluded.
- Respect and Kindness: Children, staff and the wider community are encouraged to show empathy, listen to one another, and treat others with kindness. This builds positive relationships and a supportive school culture where everyone is treated with dignity.
- Encouraging Individuality: It also means recognising and celebrating the unique strengths, talents, and perspectives of everyone. Each child is seen as an individual who has something special to contribute to the school community.
- Building Confidence and Self-Worth: By teaching children that they matter, the school helps them develop a sense of self-worth, which boosts their confidence and emotional well-being.
- Creating a Safe and Supportive Environment: “Everyone Matters” helps create a school climate where children feel safe to express themselves, ask for help, and make mistakes without fear of judgment.
Helping Hands
Helping Hands focuses on how our individual and collective contributions benefit us all. It promotes the idea of children helping their peers, teachers, and the wider school community, whether it’s through sharing, teamwork, or offering help when someone is in need. Children learn the importance of working together and supporting one another.
This value encourages children to:
- Show kindness and empathy – Understanding and responding to the needs of others with a caring attitude. We take care of each other as part of our community.
- Work together – Children learn how to collaborate with classmates to solve problems and achieve common goals. Everyone’s views are important and we are confident to express our ideas.
- Be responsible – Taking care of each other and the school environment, fostering a sense of shared responsibility. Children know that they have a responsibility as part of our school.
- Step up – By stepping up, we go above and beyond to support our community. Making positive contributions that impact others, whilst developing our understanding of our own and others’ wellbeing.
