Reception Latest News – Autumn 1 Week 3

We started this week looking at the story called The Dot. After reading the story we discussed how the character felt throughout the story and how we would feel if we were in the story. The book encourages us to develop a Growth mind-set and believe in ourselves. The children produced some wonderful artwork linked to the story.

In phonics we began learning the phonemes ‘s’, ‘a’, ‘t’, ‘p’ and particularly enjoyed the Jolly Phonics songs and actions.

The children talked about their similarities and differences and enjoyed exploring their facial features, creating their self-portraits.

In maths, we have been learning to count a small number of objects, ensuring the last number we say is the value. The children ended the week with their first visit to the library and are looking forward to sharing their books with their families at home.
