Reception Latest News – Autumn 1 – Week 4

This week we have enjoyed sharing information about our families. We have looked at our family photos and talked about what we like doing together, we have counted how many family members live in our homes and then drawn them to create a family display. We are learning to understand that our families are all different but similar, they are all special and they all matter. In maths we have been using our class puppets to help us count objects carefully.

The children identified that the dragon was counting too fast or too slow and that sometimes he missed out numbers. The children explained that he needed to move the objects into a line to count successfully. In Phonics this week we learnt the new phonemes i,n,m,d and the memory words I and is. The children also enjoyed getting to know more about our school this week as they took part in an orienteering activity where they followed clues to familiarise themselves with different areas of the school. We ended the week reading The Dot, this book encourages us to develop a Growth mind-set and believe in ourselves, the children produced some wonderful artwork linked to the story.
