This week, we have continued reading our focus text, Here We Are, with a particular focus on life under the sea. In class, the children explored a picture and worked together to create a list of everything they could see, including a scuba diver, a narwhal, and a shipwreck.
During adult-directed learning, the children have been focusing on writing a list of things they like. They used their phonics knowledge to write the words and remembered that a list consists of writing one word below the other.
The children have also enjoyed creating a variety of under-the-sea crafts using mixed media. They used strips of paper and ribbon to make floating jellyfish, and empty egg cartons to create their own “under the sea” boxes.
Outdoors, the children used their observational skills to talk about the world around them. They particularly enjoyed exploring ice and investigating different ways to make it melt.
