This week, we have continued to explore our planet and the effects we have on it. The children developed a recycling centre in our role-play areas and explored a variety of materials that can be reused and recycled. In art, we revisited the skills of cutting and joining as we created our “Rubbish Robots” using a range of reusable materials, including cereal boxes, toilet rolls and bottle tops.
In Maths, we enjoyed using the rhyme “5 Little Speckled Frogs” to support our understanding of the composition of 5. The children loved acting out the rhyme and revisiting composition during planning time by showing different ways to make 5 using frogs on lily pads. They demonstrated their growing confidence by challenging themselves further and writing number sentences to match their representations.
We also all became artists this week, sketching a variety of sea creatures and developing our drawing skills. They were fantastic!
