This week we had a very exciting visit from Dave at Raptorxotics. He showed us different insects, birds, amphibians, mammals and reptiles that you may find in a jungle or rainforest. The children showed great oracy skills as they asked questions and listened carefully to interesting facts about the different species of animals. They were all very brave as they held and touched the different animals. In literacy this week, we read a new story called ‘Eat your people’. This story follows a young monster who refuses to eat his food. As we read the story, we explored the meaning of adjectives and identified these in the book e.g. crunchy, wriggly and chewy. We explored the story further as we painted our own monsters and wrote sentences to describe them. In maths this week we revisited subitising, ensuring that we don’t count but see and say an amount. In PE this week we began learning hockey skills, we learnt how to hold a hockey stick correctly and how to move the ball slowly and carefully from one cone to another.
