This week we continued our learning around our key text Eat Your People with a focus on the last page of the book. We wrote a list of ingredients that we would need to make fairy cakes and then wrote a recipe which we will follow next week when we bake our own cakes. We have all enjoyed exploring our new coffee and cake shop role play areas which we have enhanced with handmade cake books written independently by the children in planning time.
In maths we continued to explore composition of 5 using the rhyme 5 little kittens bouncing on a bed. We used maths stem sentences to explain what happened each time a kitten fell off the bed e.g. 5 is made of 3 and 2, 3 and 2 make 5. In PE this week we enjoyed our first lesson in the sun. We practised throwing a beanbag at a target and then moved on to colour team running races with a focus on encouraging our team mates to follow instructions and be successful at this new skill.
We ended the week with a visit to the music garden where we explored a variety of instruments. We followed the beat carefully to create a new class tune.
