This week, the children have continued to enjoy writing a book about their bodies. They have named different body parts and written sentences about skills they can do using their bodies, for example, “I can jump high on my feet.” They have worked hard to remember to start their sentences with a capital letter, use finger spaces between words independently, and end with a full stop. Each word has been carefully sounded out, applying the correct letters to match spoken sounds. The children have also focused on making their writing neat, sitting on the line, and forming letters in cursive style.
In Maths, the children have developed their understanding of composition to 10, learning that a whole number can be made up of two smaller parts. A range of practical maths resources has been used to explore this concept, and some children have recorded number facts by writing number sentences and using the cherry method.
There has been great excitement as the children observe the class caterpillars, and it is amazing to see how much they have already grown. Everyone is looking forward to seeing what they will do next in their life cycle.
