Reception Latest News -Summer 2 -Week 1

We began this week by learning the poem Our Wildlife where we explored new vocabulary of how animals move e.g. hover like a fly, scuttle like a spider. The children then had the opportunity to write their own poems, choosing their own animal and thinking about how they move. They worked on their presentation and ensured that they wrote neatly with cursive handwriting.

We also enjoyed orienteering in the woodland, which involved finding maths questions, answering and recording them before moving to the next task. The children enjoyed exploring  how to measure items in the classroom accurately using rulers, cubes and blocks.

In PE, we have practised all of our skills to prepare for Sports Day, we recapped hockey skills, target throwing skills as well as completing an obstacle course and sack races. We have also practised our competitive racing, ensuring we look ahead and run in a straight line on the track. We have all been cheering on our friends positively to encourage each other.
