What a lovely first week back. The children have enjoyed sharing their half term sparkling moments with their class. It has been lovely to see their photos and hear them use extended sentences to talk about the fun things they experienced.
We learnt about the Hindu celebration Diwali and enjoyed hearing about how children celebrate this with their families at home. The children talked about their experiences of bonfire night, they described the noises they heard such as: bang, pop, whizz and crackle. Some of the children created their own firework patterns using a range of mixed media.
Throughout the week, the children have enjoyed using our class story maps of ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’ to learn the story. Once the children were familiar with the words and actions, we changed the story. We had some great suggestions such as The unicorn and the three birds and Spiderman and the three humans.
In maths the children have learnt to measure the length of objects using unfix cubes, comparing which one is the longest/shortest using comparative language and more than and fewer than.
