Year 1 Latest News – Autumn 1 Week 2

The children have settled in really well and are familiarising themselves with the learning in Year 1. We began our week by listening to the story ‘The Wild Woods’ before going on our own walk through the woodland area. The children used their five senses to describe what they could see, hear, feel, smell and touch as they walked through. In English, they then wrote their own lists on some of the things we saw. The children also enjoyed following a set of instructions on how to make a bug hotel, before creating their own outside. As a challenge, some of the children then wrote their own instructions. They are looking forward to seeing some bugs arrive! In maths, the children have been looking at numbers to 10 and patterns. In Geography, the children have learnt about human and physical features and used the ipads to take some pictures around the school grounds.
