Year 1 Latest News Autumn 2 – Week 2

On Monday the children learnt about Remembrance Day and why we wear a poppy. We all went out to the big playground at 11:00am to show our respect and stand for a minute’s silence. The children were great listeners. Later in the day, the children enjoyed writing about Remembrance Day and why it is important. They created their own poppies and wreathes and some children sketched a poppy.

Later in the week, the children wrote their own innovated story based on ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’. They used their plans to help them write the story and remembered to check their writing as they wrote each part. We were so impressed with their ideas and finished piece. They enjoyed reading their stories to other friends in Year 1.

On Tuesday the children wore odd socks for Anti-bullying week. We discussed how we are all unique and listed some of our differences. We also had a special assembly on Tuesday where we talked about the word ‘respect’.
