This week we have thoroughly enjoyed continuing to settle our children into Year 2.
In English, we introduced our first focus text, The Frog and The Stranger. We spent time investigating the main character, Rat, by describing his physical appearance and his characteristics.
In art, we created self-portraits in our sketchbooks by carefully observing our faces in a mirror. We also learnt about Andy Goldsworthy, a Scottish artist who uses natural resources to create sculptures.
We have been introduced to our new topic ‘As the leaves turn…’; we visited our school woodland area and discussed facts we already know about the woods (for example, animals that live there and plants that grow). We also came up with questions that we want to answer as the topic continues.
