We have thoroughly enjoyed settling our children into Year 2 over the past week and a half.
In English, we introduced our first focus text, The Frog and The Stranger. We spent time investigating the main character, Rat, by describing his physical appearance and his characteristics.
We have been learning about place value in maths and have used our knowledge of tens and ones to sequence numbers in order. We then compared numbers using inequality symbols to show which number is greater than, less than or equal to the other.
In art, we learnt about Andy Goldsworthy, a Scottish artist who uses natural resources to create sculptures. We discussed how each piece of art made us feel and how we thought it was made.
We have been introduced to our new topic ‘As the leaves turn…’. We visited our school woodland area and discussed facts we already know about the woods (for example; animals that live there and plants that grow). We also came up with questions that we are curious to find out the answers to as the topic continues.
