Year 2 Latest News – Autumn 1 Week 4

This week, we investigated 2-digit numbers and how they can be represented in different ways. We thought about how these numbers are made up of tens and ones and were able to represent the numbers using cherry models, dienes and coins.

We spent an afternoon looking for art around our school grounds. We were specifically looking for sculptures, which we now know are three-dimensional pieces of art. When we came back to the classroom, we made sketches of what we found by making careful observations.

In PE, we developed and applied footwork with control and fluency. Our footwork skills included side steps, hopscotch and high knees. Once we had practiced these skills we worked in colour teams to make obstacle courses involving the footwork.

In science, we explored microhabitats outside the classroom and identified the living things that we found there, such as worms, woodlice and ants.
