In year 2, we started our week by exploring measures in our maths lesson. The children collaborated well to read the labels on different items and order them according to their measurement.
In English, the children worked really hard to write instructions to tell others how to look after a ghost. They had to remember to use command sentences and imperative verbs so that the reader would know exactly what to do. The children were great at using linking words to add more information to each command!
The children were really interested to learn all about food chains. They enjoyed making their own food chains out of plasticine and we were impressed with how well they used the scientific vocabulary to talk about and label them.
We also spent an afternoon creating abstract sculptures out of junk materials. The children practised and then applied the skills of cutting and slotting to join pieces of cardboard together and creating a base so that their sculpture could stand up.
