This week, we used the ‘think 10’ method for addition. If we saw a number one more or one less than 10 we had to rebalance the calculation. Later in the week, we learnt how to use the inverse to help us calculate the answer to subtraction questions.
In English, we thought about the things that good friends do and wrote our own instructions to help someone else be a good friend. We shared our published instructions with the other Year 2 classes and tried to follow their ideas around school.
In science, we investigated life cycles. We noticed that all living things are born, are young and then become adults. We then created a butterfly life cycle with scientific labels.
During the week, we also discussed the Jewish festival Sukkot by comparing it to other festivals we are familiar with. To explore the festival we made our own Sukkahs.
