In maths, we began our learning on multiplication. This learning started with us practising counting in 2s, 5s and 10s using a bead string. We moved on to visualising groups of numbers using pictorial representations and notating these using repeated addition and multiplications. By the end of the week, we had started to explore arrays. We will continue to investigate multiplication next week.
We also continued our DT learning on wheels and axles. This term we will have the opportunity to make our own vehicle. To help us with this, we spent this week’s lesson designing our vehicle. We had to think about what materials were required and whether our vehicle would have a purpose.
On Thursday, we enjoyed carrying out a scientific inquiry. We were tasked to help a dragon choose a suitable material for the roof of his den. The roof needed to be waterproof so we predicted which material was going to keep the most water out. We built the dragon’s den and tested each material by pouring water on the roof. We discovered how important it was for the roof not only to be waterproof but also secure.
