Year 2 Latest News – Summer 2 Week 4

This week in maths, we learnt about patterns. We had to identify patterns but also create patterns ourselves. We noticed that a pattern could be made in lots of different ways. For example, you could make a one by alternating two types of shape or by changing the colour of just one shape.

In English, we spent time reflecting on our learning in Year 2. We recalled our three topics from the year and reminded each other of the activities we did within them. We also thought about how we have grown over the course of Year 2, focusing on the 6C that we have improved the most. Finally, we wrote our ideas down into a clear paragraph using the writing skills we have developed this year.

During computing, we looked at an existing quiz design and thought about how it could be made within the ScratchJr app. We chose backgrounds and characters for our own quiz projects. Then we modified a given design sheet and created our own quiz questions in ScratchJr.

In history, we continued our learning on The Great Fire of London by thinking about where it fits into the past. To do this we were given lots of important historical events and used them to create a timeline. To begin with, all of our timelines had some inaccuracies. However, we came together as a class and pieced together all our knowledge to work out the correct order. As a team we were able to make accurate timelines which included events such as our birth years and The Great Fire of London.
