What an exciting Sports Week we have had! We have certainly kept ourselves fit and healthy by taking part in a wide range of sporting events. These activities have introduced us to new sports and shown us how sport can positively support both our physical health and mental wellbeing.
On Monday, we took part in our whole school Sports Carousel, where we enjoyed trying a range of different sports, including cycling, archery, gymnastics, football, and tag rugby, to name just a few. On Tuesday morning, we took part in our Sports Day. We were incredibly impressed with how all the children completed their activities and competitive races in such warm weather. They showed great perseverance and kept going despite the heat. Their favourite events were the relay races and the obstacle race.
On Wednesday, we enjoyed a whole school aerobics session. It was a great way to start the day and get our brains ready for learning. We also took part in our sponsored fun run, with the whole school completing an incredible 684 laps around the school. This was equivalent to the distance from Croxley to Calais! We showed great determination and enthusiasm as we ran lap after lap.
On Thursday, we enjoyed a tennis session led by coaches from Croxley Green Tennis Club. The children practised a range of skills through fun and engaging activities. We also took part in a gymnastics workshop in the hall, where we developed our balance, coordination, and confidence.
We finished the week by learning how to play Ultimate Frisbee and dressing up in our favourite sports kits. It was a fantastic way to celebrate a fun filled and active week.
Throughout the week, we learned the importance of trying new things and demonstrated good sportsmanship by cheering on our friends and recognising that taking part, trying your best, and supporting your teammates are more important than winning. We also learned that when things do not go as planned whether you fall down, lose your egg, or miss a hurdle, it is resilience and a growth mindset that help us persevere, dream big, and try again. These valuable skills will support us both at school and beyond.
Well done, everyone!
